That's a BIG wolf. Remember I am about 6'2", plus a little.
If ever any of my Blogging friends were to come down here for a visit, I'd place Shy Wolf Sanctuary at the top of the list of places to show off. There's really nothing like it. Bonus points go to Shy Wolf for being a mere ten minutes from my house, nestled in the lovely Golden Gate Estates of Collier County. Reprazent!
My only beef with the place is that the proprietor was kind of nasty with me when I asked if there was a restroom. Apparently, the only restroom is in her residence, on the property. Which is how she answered me. So I answered back, "Does that mean that I can't use it?" She relented, but was visibly vexed. A suggestion then to the proprietor: if you're going to have your place open to the public (albeit by appointment) then it is incumbent on you to have a place for the public to void their aching bladders or...worse.
Still, I been there, I done that, and I (really did) done got the bumper sticker.
Fc - sorry, but this page will take a minute to upload for you (when you return to us, which I hope and trust you will). Go grab a coffee and c'mon back.

I went to a place in Ft Lauderdale. She had Hybrids and also a few high percentage wolves. They were cool, but the higher percentages were a little scary and timid
I'd like to see this place, thanks for the tip!
Friends of ours in Gainesville had a wolf hybrid, and it was just enormous. Its back impressed me the most, just seemed wider and broader than I've ever seen before.
Btw, was just scrolling through your recent posts, and that painted bunting is just beautiful. I've never seen them locally.
Thank you for your rave review of the sanctuary and our resident animals! I'm a bit surprised to hear Nancy was hesitant to allow you to use the restroom, unless you were in the middle of the tour. Then it would, obviously, interrupt the tour since she would have to show you to the house and cannot leave guests with animals unattended. I've never known her to have any problems with this in the 7 plus years I've known her and volunteered there. I have printed out your blog and will show it to her. I'm sorry you had that experience but happy you would still come for another visit and support our efforts on behalf of the animals. BTW, we have a lot of beautiful buntings, cardinals (other birds & squirrels) to photo during your next trip out. Kindest regards, Deanna
HEyTF,
Great to see you blogging again. There's a wolf sanctuay in central Indiana that I went to a bunch of years ago. It was a lot of fun, although I didn't get kissed by a wolf during my visit.
Wow. I'm seeing a lot of new names here! That's awesome.
Smilinbuddha - the sanctuary had animals with all different dispositions. Some of them wanted NOTHING to do with people, and pretty much stayed hidden until we had passed by.
Laura - I'd pretty much give my eyeteeth to have a wolf of hybrid, but we just are not equipped here to have one. We're not even ready for a regular dog. None of our property is fenced, for one thing. Then there's the issue of livestock, cats, etc. It'd be a fiasco.
Loki - first off, props on the screen-name. Long-time afficionado for Teutonic stuff here... Second, thanks for shedding light on Nacy's perdicament. She did not say anything like that, however.
In the TMI department, I had just started an all-liquid fast a couple of days before, and trips to the bathroom had a tendency to be a little bit, er, URGENT. Great timing on my part, I know.
Doug - great to see you back, bro. And it's nice to know there's more than one wolf sanctuary operating out there. God knows the creatures have it tough these days.
Such beautiful animals. How incredibly lucky that you are so close to the sanctuary. I can't even imagine what it might be like to frolic with a wolf. I love their intelligent and wild eyes.
Robin - I just kept saying, "This is SO cool. This is SO cool. This is SO cool."
I wish I lived next door to the place so I could hear them at night!
